Spike Island Cork Terms & Conditions
These terms set out the basis on which you can purchase and redeem tickets for your visit to Spike Island. Once your tickets have been purchased, the booking is non-changeable and non-refundable. By purchasing tickets for Spike Island, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and have read and agree to the use of the information you provide us with.
All persons wishing to purchase tickets to visit Spike Island do so subject to the following terms and conditions:
PURCHASING TICKETS
- Tickets can be purchased via our website https://wwwspikeislandcork.ie, by telephone at +353 (0) 21 237 3455, at our kiosk on Kennedy Pier, or through an authorised third-party booking site/agent.
- After purchasing a ticket, you will receive an email with your booking reference. This email serves as your purchase confirmation. Please double-check that you received this email after making a purchase. We will not be held liable if you do not receive this email owing to factors without our control, such as junk or spam filtering.
- Upon arrival, visitors must present a valid booking confirmation, either in printed form or on a mobile device. Please report to the Spike Island Kiosk no less than ten minutes before your allocated sailing time in order to redeem your ticket(s).
- Once your tickets have been purchased, the ticket is non-transferable and non-refundable, except at the absolute discretion of Spike Island. It is the sole responsibility of the ticket holder to check their allocated sailing time. We are not in a position to provide refunds or alternative sailings for late arrivals or missed sailings.
- All prices are quoted in Euro. Whilst we reserve the right to increase or decrease our prices at any time before you book, once your booking is confirmed the price of your booking as stated in the confirmation email will not be altered.
- All persons visiting Spike Island must pay for admission. Tickets must be retained at all times and submitted for inspection if required by any employee or agent of Spike Island. The ticket must be displayed in order to gain access to the ferry to and from the island.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDUCT
- The management of Spike Island reserves the right at all times to refuse admission.
- Any behaviour likely to annoy other visitors is not permitted. Visitors are expected to respect and conform to local laws and customs. If, in Spike Island’s opinion, a visitor is behaving in such a way as to cause danger, distress or annoyance to others or damage to property, they may be removed from the premises without refund. In addition, they must meet any expenses incurred due to such behaviour.
- In accordance with Irish Law, smoking is strictly prohibited within any building on Spike Island. Should smokers wish to smoke outside they must do so in a way that does not impact other visitors, and the used cigarette must be disposed of in a dedicated bin.
- Spike Island reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to refuse entry to or remove from its premises or ferry any person who:
- – Has been convicted of a criminal offence, which, in its opinion, is likely to affect the safety or enjoyment of other visitors.
- – Has behaved in a manner or is likely to affect the safety or enjoyment of other visitors.
- – Has used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or in any way provokes or behaves in a manner which may provoke a breach of the peace.
- – Is thought to be under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
- Any person discovered harming or defacing any part of the premises or experience will be prosecuted by Spike Island Development Company.
- We will use all reasonable endeavours to ensure that Spike Island and all of its exhibits/displays are open for use by visitors during normal opening hours. However the management reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, whether for safety reasons or otherwise and with or without prior notice, to close any specific exhibit or the entire island as deemed necessary. In the event of the closure of a single exhibit, there is no eligibility for a refund or partial discount. In the event of a total closure, Spike Island will refund any visitor the cost of their ticket if it impacts their visit. Otherwise Spike Island shall have no liability whatsoever, including no liability for travel expenses or any other out of pocket expenses in respect of any unforeseen closure.
- Visitors are responsible for their personal belongings. Spike Island Cork is not liable for any loss, theft, or damage to personal property.
- Spike Island is suitable for visitors under the age of 18 years. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during their visit. Some events such as the Spike Island After Darks tours are subject to an age limit due to specific content and it is the responsibility of the visitor to check this at the time of booking. Refunds will not be provided for incorrectly purchased tickets.
- Only food and beverages purchased from Spike Island may be consumed in the on site cafe.
- No dogs are permitted at Spike Island or on the ferry with the exception of registered guide dogs/assistance dogs.
CANCELLATIONS
Spike Island is under no obligation to provide refunds if you cancel a ticket; nonetheless, any such return is solely at our discretion.
We will not provide a refund or alternative sailing time due to bad weather. Refunds are only issued if a tour is cancelled by Spike Island due to matters beyond our control such as adverse weather conditions which prevent sailing. In the event of such a cancellation, all ticket holders will be contacted by email immediately and we urge all visitors to check their email prior to their visit. If we have to cancel your ticket, we will reimburse you the full amount you paid.
PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIAL
Photographs taken using handheld cameras or smartphones are permitted in all areas of the island. The photographs are for your personal, non-commercial use only. Pictures and photos cannot be reproduced in any format or media without our permission.
From time to time, Spike Island or other authorised third parties may carry out photography or other recording at the venue and any images or recordings may feature visitors. Visitors consent to the use of such images in connection with advertising, promotions or monitoring and acknowledge that the copyright in such images rests with Spike Island and/or any authorised third party.
If any visitors are under the age of 18, you, as their parent or legal guardian, consent to using their image and/or recordings for the purposes stated above. You acknowledge that we and/or any authorised third party own the copyright in such photos and/or recordings. You hereby grant us and/or any authorised third party all rights in such images and/or recordings of you and/or recordings of your children.
USAGE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Your personal information is exclusively used in compliance with our Privacy Policy, which can be found here. Please read these carefully since they contain important terms relevant to you.
